President Trump's Credentials

The guy who has actually accomplished stuff!

We've listened to the other candidates -- particularly Cruz and Rubio, pontificate about all of Trump's faults as a smoke screen for their own deficiencies. They bray that Trump is crude, and unpolished, and golly, not Politically Correct!

Trump draws a small crowd in Phoenix
But, Trump's remarks seem to mirror the feelings of what appears to be a majority of average Americans.

He plays hardball and addresses issues directly. Some of his solutions are questionable, but, once in the Oval Office, we suspect he will, as he has done with his business enterprises, select the most qualified professionals for his Cabinet and Advisory Staff.

Now, Trump does have a fairly impressive resume and, notably, Trump is far more accomplished than his detractors give him credit. Keep in mind that he's dealt with governments all over the world in his hotel and office building construction -- ranging from developing countries to First World. Here's a sampling:

Trump Tower in Panama City, PN
Panama City,
Rio de Janeiro,
Istanbul,
Toronto,
Vancouver,
and,
the countries of Ireland, Azerbaijan, India, Uruguay, the Philippines, and South Korea.

In addition to dealing with governments [corrupt and otherwise], he's also had to negotiate with labor unions and opposition parties, and in some cases, with adversarial elements with potential violent tendencies. In all these cases, he's succeeded, and made few enemies; but, in the big picture [he's a big picture kind of guy] he's increased employment and raised the standards of living for tens of thousands of folks, both his employees and all the small and large companies which support his complexes.

There are those with no P&L [Profit & Loss] business experience who view Mr Trump's business dealings as not honorable since he schmoozes with corrupt and dishonorable politicians in order to get his buildings constructed. In cities like NYC, antagonizing the mayor will result in difficulty getting a building permit -- which is Trump's livelihood.

Operating in foreign countries often means you have to ignore nasty practices of the local political leaders in order to have your business succeed. As we've noted in each of the [6-hour] business management courses we taught at the University of Maryland, "The Business of Business is Business" -- i.e., make a profit; once that business is viable and profitable, only then can it branch out into beneficial issues to the community. Business can only be benevolent if it is profitable -- but not if it fails.

Every US President has had to wheel and deal to get his programs endorsed by resistant pols on Capitol Hill. Even George Washington, that paragon of virtue, "did some horse-trading" to get Congress to award him a good portion of what is now Washington DC -- which he then sold back to entrepreneurs or converted into highly profitable enterprises from agriculture to brewing whiskey -- Gawd Forbid! he owned slaves! Teddy Roosevelt was pure as the driven snow, and more strident, but even he had to schmooze once in a while.

Abe would've kicked ass in the UFC
Lincoln was a pugilist as well as a bare-knuckled lawyer who was elected solely because it was a four-horse race, and the division of electoral votes gave him a squeeky win; his interest in abolition was cursory at best, but he knew how to wheel and deal.

Reagan won by appealing to Mainstream America and had a gift for persuasion, but, he too was a horse trader and won over Congress to his views.

It's how you get things done in the White House -- at least it until this Administration, which instead, uses intimidation via 3:00 am house calls by Chicago thugs to his opposition.

It's been a lesson for us in that there are people who are adamant about their candidate [in this case Cruz and Rubio] who believe that impeccable moral standards should be the only criteria for selection for office.
[Cruz has since established that he has no morals, and thus eliminated himself from the Presidential race.]

That would be wonderful if all politicians were moral and honest, but, that would be an oxymoron. We've been in Washington for 50+ years, as well as in 55 countries all over the world, and we've never met a senior politician [in any country] who has not sold out along the way; so, if we send in a moralist [like Jimmy Carter or Cruz] to the White House, how long before the McConnells, the Boehners, the Pelosis, the Reids, the Putins, etc., rip him to shreds.

It seems that not everyone in the universe maintains the same moral standards, so it's necessary to recognize this to prevent exploitation -- or destruction.

Qadafi: Best US Intel Asset on Terrorism
We are not a Trump-bot; we ARE dyed-in-the-wool pragmatists and recognized such diplomatic gaffes as the unseating and execution of Saddam [at one time, our closest MidEast ally] and Qadafi [the most valuable intelligence resource we had on terrorism] as a poorly executed regime-change which led to chaos both locally and regionally

[Iraq and Libya are now "failed states", and Libya no longer is the barrier to the flood of African emigrants who are flooding southern Europe; worse, the arms from Libya's military warehouses are now in the hands of a broad range of terrorists.]

We pick the candidate best suited to do the job -- based on our knowledge and experience.

To recap our experience in worldly issues:
We understand US and international politics based on our decades of hands-on experience working behind the scenes in the US and foreign governments analyzing and assessing the big regional and global situation -- from grass-roots politics to insurgencies to terrorism.

We've worked directly with, and advised two Secretaries of State, a Director of Central Intelligence, Reagan's Ambassador at Large; we've written White Papers on political and economic stability in developing nations for the National Security Council, authored drafts of NIEs [National Intelligence Estimates], and helped create and direct the operations of a a highly acclaimed global intelligence program.

In the private sector, we've created and managed the international operations of a highly profitable private company, and later created and managed an IT company which assessed and analyzed the Terrorist Threat.

So, we're a realist and pragmatic when we support a candidate; we don't concern ourselves over whether the candidate lusted after a good looking gal, or made inappropriate remarks; we view him in the context of whether he can actually do the job and go nose-to-nose with guys like Putin. LBJ was easily the most abhorrent and amoral President we've had in two centuries, and we despised him; but he got things done, and he held off all foreign adversaries, with the exception of only one -- which blackmailed him for his role in a poorly conceived Executive Action.

Cruz and Rubio are wonderful, sweet, moral, and solid Christians. We doubt, however, they'd be able to convert Putin though.

Gorby, we'll make it worth your while
to dump the USSR
Trump, on the other hand, knows how to deal with the Putins of the world, and has been doing so for decades.

Just as Reagan negotiated with Gorbachov to dismantle the Soviet Union, Trump will likely be a formidable negotiator with the likes of Putin and other heads of state.

Trump gets results.

Did McConnell Propose Martial Law?

Footnote  [9/14/2020]

As much as this scenario disturbed us at the time of this 2015 blog , all the components indicated the future of the US, had Hillary been elected, would have converted the US into a Totalitarian State.

But, Trump can use all the measures emplaced by 0bama and his Deep State support network to unravel this horrific scheme.

EDITORIAL NOTE [14SEP2020]

We are republishing this blogpost [1/23/2016] based on current events which theoretically were programmed as far back as 2014 for the Deep State [0bama's sponsor] to install a totalitarian government.

Thus, 0bama created EO 13603  in March 2012 with the intent of declaring Martial Law when the opportunity arose (or if he were defeated at the polls); he received no resistance from Congress since Senator McConnell prepped the action by directing the Resolution for the 'Authorization to Use Military Force' [AUMF] to address the ISIS threat!

After sponsoring a series of "shooting massacres" [some real, but most bogus] to convince legislatures to remove guns from the general population [all of which fell flat], he tried pandemics with various diseases released "accidentally" by the CDC and from Fort Detrick bio-war labs, and then imported  Ebola from Congo in 2014 - which was contained immediately, frustrating him.

Interestingly, 0bama built into 0bamaCare a provision which, in the event of a national Health emergency [e.g., Ebola outbreak], he could declare a National Security Emergency, impose Martial Law, and subordinate the Department of Defense under the Surgeon General
"to take all measures necessary to ensure public health."

Of note is the number of GOP legislators who supported this measure and added more teeth to the Presidential power.

To the surprise of the Deep State/Swamp, Donald Trump was elected and now has all these powers - which Congress fully endorsed, so Trump can use any of these measures to bring order and civility to the US and take down the Deep State and the Insurgent 0bama.   As a result, we're seeing the Deep State scrambling to defeat Trump at all costs lest he return control of the country to the citizens.

McConnell [RINO?]

Senate Majority Leader McConnell slipped a ringer past the Senate late Wednesday [21 Jan 2015] using the "fight against ISIS" to justify his "Resolution for the 'Authorization to Use Military Force' [AUMF] by the President" which passed in Congress in 2001, following 9/11.

[Keep in mind, the evidence now [2016] shows ISIS/ISIL was created by the US/Saudi Arabia/Israel.]

Senator Cornyn [RINO?]
Senate Majority Whip

This move came as a surprise to Congress, to include McConnell's deputy, Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, who responded upon being informed of this action "He did?"

Cornyn, in December [2015] said
"Republicans would not present an AUMF of their own until the President outlined a strategy.  We need a coherent strategy from the President, which we don't have, and we don't need to tie the hands of the next President by restricting what the President can do."

[So much for leadership internal communication; are these guys bestowing dictatorial powers on the President?]

In essence, McConnell is attempting to fast-track the measure while Congress's attention is diverted to "SnowMageddon", which has artificially paralyzed Washington, DC and most of the East Coast.

McConnell's AUMF gives the President unlimited power -- i.e., NO RESTRICTIONS -- on the President's use of ground troops, nor would it impose any limits on time or geographical boundaries.

Translated, that means that the 2001 AUMF is designed to give the President flexibility in fighting foreign enemies, e.g., "terrorists" on foreign soil, would now be expanded to conduct military operations [i.e.,] Martial Law, against "designated Enemies of the State"  on US soil.
[This empowers the President to legally impose Martial Law without consulting Congress.]

Enemies of the State
now include:
a.  General Petraeus [Director, CIA; CDR, US/ISAF forces in Afghanstan] Benghazi Whistleblower
b.  Lt Colonel Jason Amerine [Silver Star/Special Forces] Whistle-blower
c.  Major Matt Golsteyn [Silver Star/Special Forces]
d.  Captain Wm Swenson [Medal of Honor] Whistle-blower
e.  Sergeant First Class Earl Plumlee [Medal of Honor nominee/Silver Star/Special Forces]

We recall that, as the Nazis took control of Germany,
they targeted, and eliminated
German WW1 Heroes,
substituting their own politically correct "heroes".
Sound familiar?

A different, and more limiting version of the AUMF proposed by the President has been the subject of considerable argument and in-fighting in both Parties.

As late as this past December [2015], McConnell dismissed the idea of bringing up a new authorization, telling reporters:
'It's clear the President does not have a strategy in place, so it would hard to figure out how to authorize a non-strategy'."
[So, Mitch, what's the rush now?]

Co-sponsors of this bill are Senators
a) Lindsey Graham [R-SC]
b) Daniel Coats [R-IN]
c) Joni Ernst [R - IA]
d) Orrin Hatch R-UT]

Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker [R-TN]
... there is still a wide diversity of opinions on the issue" and that
"..no new authorization was needed."

Editorial Comment:

We interpret McConnell's action as bringing us one step closer to a Martial Law situation; most shocking is that it is the Republican Leadership pushing Congress to surrender its powers to the President!

Advice & Consent -- a Separation of Powers with three Separate but Equal powers.
Specifically, Congress has the ultimate power to create and fund legislation to prevent the President from becoming a dictator.  The third power, the Supreme Court, could interpret the actions of either or both to determine whether or not what they had proposed met Constitutional standards.
That process seems to have fallen by the wayside.

Since 9/11, the Presidents and Congress have both created laws which shred the Bill of Rights; e.g., the Patriot Act and the National Defense Authorization Act.  We were appalled when President Bush endorsed "torture" as an acceptable interrogation process -- even though professional interrogators clearly stated such practices rarely, if ever, produced accurate intelligence.  We previously condemned our enemies for such practices, only to find it not only now acceptable, but even encouraged in our training manuals.

The Bottom Line on the AUMF is that Congress and the Oval Office have seemingly joined together to create the "perfect storm" by which Martial Law can, and most likely will be enacted, ratified, and institutionalized -- in direct contradiction of the Posse Comitatus Act, which forbade the use of US Military in a law enforcement role.

The structure and the Constitution were specifically designed to prevent the possibility of there EVER being a dictator in the United States.

That guarantee is now fading.
