GOP: Destroying its candidates?

The Media, in its consummate wisdom, has designated the field of Republican candidates as clowns. Count them; 23 highly qualified Conservatives who believe in the Free Market, and each of whom has built his or her reputation on accomplishments which no current Democrat can match.  

We even include Christie, who has managed to effectively govern New Jersey, perhaps the most corrupt state in the Union - other than Illinois.

Of these 23, we hope the GOP won't destroy them all in its zeal to put Zeb Bush into the Oval Office. 

In past elections, it appears the GOP Chairman, Reince Priebus, along with his rabid pit bull, Karl Rove, managed to destroy any number of electable Conservative candidates for the House, the Senate, and the White House by generating adverse propaganda, withholding campaign funds and Media support, or joining forces with the Democrats to defeat candidates who indicated they would not toe the GOP Party Line - or worship at the feet of Priebus or Rove.

Rove appeared to be the guiding force in in re-electing Democrat Harry Reid in 2010 by smearing Sharron Angle, who was backed by the Tea Party and Veterans in Politics; she had won the Republican primary with 40% of the vote.  

After the primaries, Angle had a 50% to 39% lead over Reid, indicating that Angle was a shoe-in to win.  

Oddly, after behind-the-scenes lobbying by Rove, the widow of the late Republican Governor Guinn, Republican State Senator Raggio, and finally, Republican Senator Ensign all [we repeat ALL!] endorsed Democrat Senator Harry Reid -- the obvious objective of which was to undercut Tea Party influence in the GOP, and to preserve the purity of the corrupt GOP leadership!

Additionally, four strong incumbent Republican senators - who were resistant to GOP leadership -- were persuaded to "retire", including George Voinovich of Ohio, Sam Brownback of Kansas, Chris Bond of Missouri, and Mel Martinez of Florida, all abruptly decided to 

"retire and spend more time with our families."

Amazingly enough, the voters overturned most of the negative operations of Priebus and Rove, delivering 63 new seats to the Republicans in the House, and six new Senate seats; in local elections, the Republicans swept the elections with voters bringing in 680 new Republican seats -- leaving Republicans in control of 26 state legislatures and 29 State Governorships.

By 2014, Priebus and Rove were unable to keep the Democrats in power as voters gave the Republicans a clear majority in both the Senate and the House, with 54 Senate seats and the largest majority in the House since 1928.  

Amazingly, the voters recoiled against Maryland Democrat Governor O'Malley's failed governorship and elected Republican Larry Hogan with a margin of 51% to 47% -- which Chris Christie labeled "... the biggest upset in the entire country!"

But, enough of our vitriol against the GOP leadership -- which we believe is firmly in the pocket of the Democrats and Mr 0bama.

Let's talk about the Democrat candidates.

It appears the Democrats have only one viable candidate, perhaps the least qualified and most reviled Presidential candidate in US history, Hillary Clinton, who is "generating financial scandals faster than her husband generated his inevitable sex scandals".  

Of course, who can forget her description of her success as Secretary of State, in which she spent several minutes saying the words: success and progress and resolving existing problems, but at no point could she give an example of any of those terms.

To be fair, we can cite some examples of her accomplishments:
1)  She logged more mileage than any other Secretary of State
2)  She used her cell phone and personal email to transmit to unauthorized persons more Top Secret Compartmented intelligence information than any other politician in US history -- after which she claimed to accidentally have deleted all that data.
3)  She attempted a unilateral covert operation to cut a deal with the President of Iran via an unauthorized flight into Iran -- which crashed [shot down by the Israelis?], killing her SEAL escort [he allegedly committed suicide in Afghanistan], and sending her to an Israeli hospital from which she was surreptitiously shipped to a NY hospital where she was diagnosed with a flu-induced "head injury".
4)  She successfully killed one ambassador, his bodyguard, and two former SEALs in Benghazi.
5)  She installed a member of the Muslim Sisterhood, with close ties to  the Muslim Brotherhood, as her principal advisor at the State Department; and now there are reports of her being linked to supplies and money being provided to ISIS [a unit of which was captured by Iraqi forces, revealing the unit commander to be an Israeli colonel [corrected by the IDF to say he was an Israeli general!]

Now, to balance the scale of candidates in the Democrats' Presidential Clown Car, we have:

1)  Bernie Sanders who is upset there are 23 types of under-arm deodorants while children are hungry, advocates a 90% tax rate, and, he openly fantasizes about women "...being raped by three men simultaneously."

Granted, it's an old quote, taken out of specific context, but, since the Democrats fantasize about Ted Cruz's parking tickets over the last 20 years, Sanders' fantasies seem oh, so much more salacious.  He is expected to carry Vermont's Electoral Votes.

2)  Then again, we have Martin O'Malley, 

former governor of Maryland against whom voters rebelled to smash his hand-picked successor at the polls with a massive vote against O'Malley's policies which destroyed Maryland's economy by taxing businesses to such an extent that many fled the state leaving tens of thousands of unemployed workers -- and depleted tax coffers.

He advocated taxing rainfall! 

We feel certain that if he were on the ticket, 

Maryland's Electoral Votes would be all Red.

3)  Desperately seeking an alternative, the Democrats now have Lincoln Chaffee, a former Republican, then an Independent, and currently a Democrat who seeks "internationalism" via the Metric System, and he seeks to atone for the Iraqi war[s]. 

He may carry Washington, DC, which has no Electoral Votes, but the Rhode Island voters are delighted he's leaving.

We return to the original question:

Will the GOP leadership manage to destroy all the 

qualified Conservative candidates before the election to snatch defeat 

from the jaws of pure victory -- as they did in 2012?

The Daily Show's John Stewart offers some much needed comic relief in this fair and unbiased breakdown of the Gaza-Israeli conflict.

"Both sides are engaging in aerial bombardment, but one side appears to be bomb-better at it."

Israelis have Red Alert (an iPhone app) which provides real time alerts for rocket, mortar, or missile strikes on Israel -- which is protected by the US-sponsored Iron Dome protection against incoming missiles and rockets.

Meanwhile Gazans are being notified by ... being bombed.

The warning to Palestinians in Gaza is an exploding mortar round three [3] minutes before full scale air strikes. That three [3] minutes is an alert to evacuate before being repeatedly being bombed by Israel.

Stewart asks:

What are the Gazans supposed to do?  

Evacuate to where?

Have you fucking seen Gaza?!

Israel blocked this border and Egypt blocked this border.

What are they supposed to do? Swim for it?!

Israel's response to Gaza is indeed a living political cartoon for the war in the Middle East.
The world has gone mad.  Is this the Israeli Manifest Destiny?

We're reminded of the Highway of Death in the First Gulf War, in which the slaughter was so egregious that US pilots refused to continue strafing and bombing, and ground troops turned away in disgust.

There's a good deal of wry humor in this video parody of a traditional Christmas song.
It's also frighteningly accurate -- in an amusing sort of way.

The findings of the NSA Review Panel have been released, and Mr Obama was "extremely grateful" for the report -- but deferred a commitment to implement the Panel's findings; that would indicate he has no intention of implementing any of the recommendations.

The panel includes Michael Morrell [former Deputy Director of CIA], Richard Clare [former cyber-security advisor], Geoffrey Stone [University of Chicago law professor], Cass Sunstein [Harvard Law Professor], and Peter Swire [Georgia Tech professor and expert in privacy law].

Essentially, the Panel felt that most, if not all of the NSA collection activities were unconstitutional.  They further noted that "... the telephony meta-data obtained for 'terrorist investigations' [by the use of Section 215 of the Patriot Act]  was not essential to preventing attacks and could readily have been obtained in a timely manner using conventional court orders.

Here are the more salient of 
the 46 recommendations:





1)  Move the NSA phone database off-site
     [i.e., out from NSA control and back to the phone companies]. 
     If specific data is required, obtain a court order through the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance
     Court [FISC] -- and justify it with specific justification and complete documentation.

2)  Terminate NSA's practice of undermining private sector encryption standards
     [i.e., NSA's demand for encryption keys by companies, organizations, email systems, etc.]

3)  Cease industrial espionage against US and foreign industry

NATIONAL SECURITY LETTER   [DocStoc.com]

4)  Purge all data currently held on US citizens

5)  Curtail National Security Letters [NSL] as a warrantless, secret demand for information
     a) Allow US companies to reveal when they receive National Security Letters [NSL]
     b) NSLs currently direct recipients to provide the FBI all information regarding
clients
     c) NSLs currently threaten recipients
with criminal penalties if they disclose receipt of NSLs
     d) Future NSLs can only be obtained
 after judicial review and authorization
 [i.e., get a legal search warrant from the FISC]   

Footnotes:
1)  Between 2003 - 2006, the FBI issued 192,499 NSL demands; records of NSLs from 2006 forward 

were classified and the FBI would not release them.

2)  NSL recipients were not allowed to
     challenge the Letters, or to even seek
     legal counsel

3)  Two Federal District Court judges
     struck down the NSLs as violations
     of the First Amendment

4)  Even with the permissive standards which authorized the FBI to issue these letters, an audit
     revealed that the FBI violated the rules governing the issuance of NSL well over 1,000 times
     between 2002 and 2007 

      [NOTICE: These illegal operations followed the institution of the BUSH PATRIOT ACT

5) The ACLU, in 2008, charged that the US Military was using the FBI to "... skirt legal
     restrictions on domestic surveillance",  based on a review of more than 1,000 documents obtained
     by a DOD FOIA request

6)  The Electronic Frontier Foundation noted that, based on a review of FBI documents obtained in
      a FOIA request, top FBI officials were fully aware of the abuses of the NSLs -- but chose to
      violate the law anyway.

Our Recommendation:

NSA has claimed that they merely collected all this meta-data, but didn't or actually use it for analysis. 

The obvious question then becomes
"Why collect it at all if it's available from the phone/Internet companies."

One answer is that NSA collected the data, then illegally turned it over to the Law Enforcement Community -- and provided analyst support to illegally demonstrate to the Law Enforcement Community how to exploit the data.

[NOTE:  We learned that, under 0bama, Comey (illegally) transferred 100 NSA analysts to the FBI Counter-Intelligence Division, thus, enabling the FBI to by-pass the restriction on spying on US citizens.  Simply task an NSA analyst sitting in the FBI's CI Division, and that analyst taps into the NSA database - with an unlimited amount of data.  That illegal structure remains today.] 

If NSA or the Intelligence Community needs specific information, they should obtain a legal warrant and request the phone/Internet companies provide it.  That way, no one will accuse NSA of being an evil-doer, and there will be a paper trail to protect the phone/Internet company from a civil suit.

One question we pose to NSA is:
"Why do you need private sector encryption keys?"
With a budget in the tens of billions of dollars, we would think NSA wouldn't need a cheat sheet; is this an admission the NSA can't break simple encryptions -- with a budget approaching $500 Billion?

NOTE: 

The government demanded the encryption keys from John McAfee, who told them to "pound sand!" 

The FBI then declared McAfee to be a 'terrorist" and seized control of his company, and hunted him down based on charges of "tax evasion"; 

he was eventually arrested and imprisoned in a Spanish prison, where, oddly, he died.  

He was described by government sponsored Media reports as a crazy "Conspiracy Theorist".

Our Caution:

It ain't over til it's over.  

Mr Obama has not committed to implementing the Panel's recommendations

This abuse was brought down by two factors
1)  Edward Snowden's publication of NSA records
2)  Federal District Court judges who found FBI's abuses unconstitutional -- and criminal.

Representative King [R-NY] defends NSA's surveillance and encourages Mr Obama to "ignore it."
[I suggest voters in his district ignore Mr King when he runs for reelection].

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid [D-NV] recently pushed through a procedural measure that would allow for confirmation of Federal Judges by a simple Senate majority; after which a series of appointments will have been made for federal judges who will follow Mr Obama's direction and protect NSA and the Intelligence Community from further legal challenge.

This battle has only begun folks, so stay on your Senator and Congressperson to make sure this whole debacle is not buried.

Don't accept Mr Snowden's prediction that "Nothing Will Change"

We firmly believe that if Mr Obama's hand is not forced, he will not end NSA's data mining.
Will Obama really curb NSA Data Mining? Not until Congress forces him to!

It's up to you to let your political representatives know this conduct by NSA and the Intelligence Community is unacceptable.
