Colin Powell: Hero, or Criminal

As is sometimes the case, we review actual history
to learn the difference between heroes and criminals.

Until we peeled back the layers of criminal activity by the
Bush family, and McCain, we thought they were heroes.
And now, we have folks who have traditionally touted
Colin Powell as an American hero - but, reality emerges,
reflecting that perhaps, all along, he was a Deep State Puppet.

I met Powell when he was a young officer on temporary duty at Ft Bragg.
He was an arrogant jerk then, and hated by his fellow officers (who couldn't trust him) since Powell knew he was a "Chosen One" and answered to no one - not even his commander!

Separating himself from his troops w his cap

As a 2LT in Europe, he lost his .45 side-arm [usually a court-martial offense] which was found by some village children who played with it and fired off a round - attracting a bit of attention; but, his company commander let him off the hook.

He was a Transportation Officer, awarded a Purple Heart for stupidly stepping on a Pungi Stick in Vietnam; he was awarded other medals to the bewilderment of his Transportation Troops
- who received none; because they weren't "Chosen Ones".

A REMF, he saw virtually no combat, but later created astonishing tales of his own heroism in which, for example, as an "Advisor to a South Vietnamese unit", he single-handedly charged and attacked the [non-existent] enemy.

He claimed to be a heroic leader, but, oddly, having been dismissive of his subordinates and Vietnamese counterparts, none of his subordinates would verify Powell's claims.
[Later, his publicist would publish these imaginary tales to validate Powell's image.]

Women and Children were raped and executed
Interestingly, he was awarded a Soldier's Medal [not involving conflict] for reportedly rescuing a general from a helicopter crash, and then as an investigator of the My Lai massacre in which as many as 567 civilian men, women, and children and infants were brutally assaulted and murdered by US soldiers of the 23d (Americal) Division, he received other rewards.

[Although 26 soldiers were charged with criminal offenses, the charges were dismissed, based on Powell's Investigative Report]

[Powell would later admit to having been a member of the unit responsible for the massacre (but not during the massacre)].

His investigation was regarded as a Whitewash, covering up the crimes for which Lt Calley was later court-martialed.

Soldiers and officers who attempted to intervene and stop this massacre were threatened and called traitors by the command channels [including Westmoreland], and castigated by US politicians.

[General Westmoreland, MACV commander, congratulated the guilty unit for its "outstanding action"
saying that
"they dealt [the] enemy a heavy blow" - based on Powell's Investigative Report.

Powell, however, received medals and a White House Fellowship for his Whitewash Report.

Much later, Westmoreland wrote that My Lai was:
"the conscious massacre of defenseless babies, children, mothers, and old men in a kind of diabolical slow-motion nightmare that went on for the better part of a day, with a cold-blooded break for lunch".
But that never interfered with Powell's reputation!

In the intervening period, Powell [whom many regarded as a war criminal], was moved forward as a soldier who knew how to please his superiors - and, was rewarded for his Whitewash of the My Lai Massacre War Crime.

Thus began his Deep State sponsored political ascendancy.

White House Fellow
[Great job on that My Lai Whitewash!]
Having been, without accomplishment [but being of special racial status, plus his cover-up report], inexplicably awarded the White House Fellowship, where-in he became a "political officer", suitable to the Deep State as a rising "Black Leader" with the charm [to his superiors - but not to his peers or subordinates] of 0bama.

He used his White House connections to arrange  his future assignments to the outrage of his peers and superiors and defied the Military process, dictating [via his political mentors] what ticket-punch assignments he would "accept".

As the Deep State "Golden Boy", without accomplishment or merit - other than his Race Card, he was whisked through the ranks, punching all the right tickets, to rise through the ranks until he became Chairman of the JCS and Secretary of State
- programmed perhaps, for POTUS candidacy

He was to be appointed to the National Security Council where he was regarded as an Empty Chair with no input of merit.  But, he was a rising star, nonetheless, and was appointed as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff [the position previously held by only the most qualified Military officers].

The JCS was the traditional aspiration of all the professional officers of accomplishment - the five percenters - so to speak, and stepping stones to key assignments and commands.  Powell's appointment as Chairman changed that.

Once Powell became CJCS, he cleaned house and filled the slots with young Black officers, few of whom had merit, and who spent their working hours at the Pentagon Officers Athletic Club [POAC] playing basketball or lifting weights.

The JCS then became a joke, and a meaningless bureaucracy accomplishing nothing and disrupting  Military readiness from top to bottom.  Powell's reign as CJCS became a phantom reign, noted for his indecisiveness and lack of experience or actual Military Expertise.  Touted as a "brilliant strategist" by his publicists, the senior Pentagon staff regarded him as an incompetent, blundering poseur.

He was eager to please newly elected President GHW Bush and initiated the war against Panama to displace Noriega [so Bush could gain control of Noriega's international network of 325 front companies moving narcotics, weapons, and human trafficking].

Powell created the Gulf War, requiring all Military to get the Bush Anthrax Vaccine [which created the Gulf War Syndrome, killing or debilitating thousands of US troops in subsequent years].

Powell's legacy is that he brought the Global Economy to a halt for six months [nearly collapsing it] while he assembled a massive force to invade Iraq, which had lots of folks in uniform, but only 100,000 actual combat troops.

Had Powell initially deployed his Quick Reaction Force: (18th Airborne Corps), this meaningless war would have been over in days - instead of months of senseless delays and force build-up.

Once authorized, General Schwartzkopf's
dynamic command prepped the battleground
with air strikes and ended the
ground war in less than 100 hours.

[But Powell was the Deep State/GOP Token Black Guy whom they wanted to award a fifth star [making him the only non-combatant to receive such status], and groom for the Presidency.]
His lack of support by his peers or previous superiors ended his political legitimacy

Keep in mind, Powell's Gulf War incursion opened the gates for the Deep State's endless Middle East Wars {aka: the Bush Wars} to include W's invasion of Iraq to displace Saddam Hussein.
As an aside, Powell was ridiculed by the senior Military Officers for his indecisiveness.

George W Bush appointed Powell Secretary of State in 2001, but Powell was excluded from the National Security Council due to his incompetence.  W wished to continue the highly profitable Middle East wars, and Powell was anxious to support that effort.

He became the object of ridicule for his energetic support of Bush's false claim that the US invasion of Iraq was based on Saddam's "Weapons of Mass Destruction

- which were found to be non-existent by the US Intelligence Community!

Bush Administration's case for war on Iraq
at the UN Security Council on February 5, 2003.

Powell concluded his Deep State luminary status by supporting Barack 0bama's Presidential candidacy.

If you go back in recent history, you'll see the Deep State Chosen Ones like Powell and 0bama who stand out for their arrogance, their incompetence, their lack of accountability, and for committing crimes for which they should have been court-martialed or otherwise prosecuted - but weren't.

Then again, it's really hard these days to distinguish the White Hats from the Black Hats.
