Did Neil, his dad's BFF pick him up?
You know, Neil, yeah, Neil Bush - the guy who collapsed the $1.4 Trillion Savings&Loan industry and contributed heavily to GHW Bush's campaign.
[Jeb was right there to profit as well.]
Did they work out the deal for John Hinkley [a certified mental case on leave from his psychiatric care hospital) to buy a gun with armor piercing/exploding rounds, although he wouldn't know a round from a Rubics Cube [and those rounds were restricted to police or Military].
But, John was ok with meeting some guy named Ronald, so they put John on the sidewalk outside the Hilton and said Ronald was going to walk right up to him and shake his hand.
But, who was that Black guy circling around from the street, back to the hotel entrance, slipping up behind the city cop who took a bullet from behind, leaving a clear shot at Reagan, although that shot took out a Secret Service agent instead.
And the Black guy joined the crowd huddled around the bodies on the sidewalk - all he could do was to "retrieve" the pistol from the sidewalk where Secret Service claimed to have found it.
So, the SAIC had to fire a bullet into Reagan's armpit, inside Reagan's bullet-proof vest, while Reagan had his arm raised. [The surgeon was curious about the powder burns in Reagan's armpit - doesn't everyone have armpit powder burns?].
Hinkley thought that was nice; would Ronald give him a hamburger too? Isn't that what Ronald McDonald does?
How was he to know two Secret Service guys planned to kill Ronald and some other people. And, that nice guy, Mr Weinberger and John's dad were pals, and spent a lot of time together - and that's how he came to be at Ronald's hotel, standing on the sidewalk with a few other folks.
And Mr Bush, who was the Vice President at the White House declared, after all the shooting was over that there was no conspiracy - even though that mean old guy Al Haig guy said otherwise; so things can be good now.
But, everyone said Haig was a crazy guy because he said he was in charge at the White House (and then the USSR abruptly reduced its Military war-alert status!).
"Well that nice old judge said I could go back to my room at St. Elizabeth's Mental Hospital.
"Everyone is so nice now when I come out, but dad said I could stay in this room for as long as I wanted.
"But, I still don't remember writing the letter to Judy Foster that they say I left in the hotel room; and, who is Judy Foster? Did I go to high school with her?"
